The Group was admitted as a member to The Edge Billion Dollar Club and was ranked second under Highest Return on Equity Over 3 Years and Highest Return to Shareholders Over 3 Years under Finance Sector categories.

Euromoney has awarded Lonpac the “3rd Best Insurer in Asia” beating some of the other larger insurer players in the Asia countries like Japan, China, India and Korea.

Lonpac, being the highest ranked Malaysian insurance company, went on to compete at the Asia regional category.

Lonpac was awarded the Chubb Multinational Risk Group Outstanding Affiliate Service Award 2009 for three consecutive years in recognition of Lonpac’s efficient service and continued support of Chubb’s Multinational Risk Group. Lonpac was honoured with this award based on the following merits:

• Efficient policy issuance and service levels
• Long relationship with Chubb
• Nomination by Chubb’s branches or service team
• Recommendation by affiliate network managers

LPI was conferred the Most Timely Held Annual General Meeting Award for being the earliest public listed company to hold its Annual General Meeting (“AGM”). In 2009, LPI held its AGM on 12 February 2009 i.e. within 43 days after the financial year end. LPI was also conferred with a Distinction Award by the MSWG for its commendable and excellent corporate governance practices.

The MCG Index 2009 evaluated public listed companies on their conformance based on the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance, Listing Requirements of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad and selected international best practices.

LPI was accorded with the Certificate of Merit in recognition of the Company’s annual report having qualified for the final of NACRA 2009.

NACRA is a highly prestigious award for excellence in annual corporate reporting. The award aims at promoting greater and more effective communication by organisations through the publication of timely, informative, factual and reader-friendly annual reports. It also has the objectives of recognising and encouraging excellence in the presentation of financial and business information, creating public awareness of the objectives, operations and financial performance of organisations as well as promoting higher standards of corporate governance.

LPI was accorded with the Merit Award of the Malaysian Business – CIMA Enterprise Governance Awards 2009 for the fifth consecutive year since 2004.

The award recognises companies for their organisational excellence in delivering performance while conforming to set standards and practices. Enterprise Governance is an evolution of Corporate Governance, as it seeks to strike a balance between corporate and business governance. Winners were evaluated on business and corporate governance principles and best practices, including risk management and internal control, communications and adherence to regulations, financial and operational performance.

Top 3 Winner under Financial Services category

LPI has emerged as the Sectoral Winner under Financial Services category of the KPMG Shareholder Value Award 2008. This is the fifth consecutive year that LPI won KPMG Shareholder Value Awards since 2004.

The KPMG Shareholder Value Award is an annual award where eligible listed companies on Bursa Securities are evaluated in terms of value creation to their shareholders in the year of review. This award is designed to promote corporate excellence through enhancing levels of disclosure and setting exemplary industry good practice.

Lonpac has won the Euromoney 2009 “Best Insurer in Malaysia” award, in recognition of Lonpac’s profitability and efficiency.

Lonpac also bagged Euromoney awards in all categories, namely :

1. “Best for Innovation”
2. “Best for Price”
3. “Best Product Range”
4. “Best for Claims Resolution”
5. “Best Consultant for Insurance Risk Transfer”

Lonpac is the first insurance company in Malaysia to receive the widely recognised accolades from Euromoney. Apart from votes by consumers and brokers on which they thought were best, Euromoney looked at Lonpac’s financial ratios, indicators and ratings to evaluate its profitability and efficiency in choosing the winning insurer.

LPI won the KPMG Shareholder Value Award for the fourth consecutive year since 2004. LPI received a higher recognition for the KPMG Shareholder Value Award for the years 2005 and 2006 when it emerged as the Sectoral Winner under the Financial Services category.
