PRESS RELEASE
LONPAC E-ASSIST: 24-HOUR EMERGENCY CAR ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME

Kuala Lumpur, October 30, 2001 Lonpac Insurance Bhd (Lonpac) is poised to capture an increase of 15% in it's motor business with the launch of Lonpac E-Assist, a 24-hour emergency car assistance programme that is given complimentary exclusively to its comprehensive private car insurance policy holders.

Lonpac's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tee Choon Yeow is confident that this value added services will earn the confidence and trust of the policy holders and it will also attract new customers to purchase motor insurance from the company.

"Besides new motor policy holders, we are giving away this service free of charge to our existing motor policy holders who renew their motor insurance with Lonpac as a way of showing our appreciation to them for their continued confidence and trust in us," he said.

The Lonpac E-Assist programme provides 24-hour minor roadside repairs and emergency towing services to its members free of charge up to a maximum limit of RM300 per event. Minor roadside repairs will include services such as minor wiring work, battery replacement services and any other repairs that are deemed possible at the breakdown spot.

In the event it is not possible to repair the car on the spot, Lonpac E-Assist will provide its member with free towing of the car up to a maximum limit of 300 kilometres on a round trip basis. If towing is due to car breakdown, where the member wants the car to be towed to is entirely up to the member's decision, whether to his preferred workshop or back to his home. However, if it is due to accident, Lonpac E-Assist will tow the member's car to Lonpac's panel of workshops.

Lonpac E-Assist is aimed at eliminating the hardship of Lonpac's motor policy holders in the events of emergency and it is a reward of cost savings to its policy holders as they do not have to subscribe to similar services available in the market.

Post Net Sdn Bhd is the appointed third party service provider who runs the programme. The Lonpac E-Assist is operated via an outsourced 24-hour call centre, supported by an extensive network of over 400 tow truck operators throughout the country.
